Bigger Kings in Lake Mi this year ? (June 07 update) |

Well, the typical June slowdown seems to be a little less severe this year than some in the past. Occasional catches of big boxes of fish keep coming in , from both the Charter docks and from sportsmans boats the last couple weeks ! I have seen some very nice size fish lately, including Kings in the mid teens to steelhead in the 15-16 lb class, and cohos in the 6 lb range, all of which seems to indicate good bait and healthy fish ! That is very encouraging to see, and hopefully means more of the 20 pound plus fish for August too . Come on out and book a charter for July, its shaping up to be a great summer on the big lake ! THE FISHING IS HOT IN GRAND HAVEN RIGHT NOW ! (May Report) |

Well, the fish have finally arrived in numbers ! This week, in between high winds and cold weather, the fishing was nothing short of fantastic. The waters from about 180 FOW to 220 FOW have held very good numbers of chinooks, with the occasional steelhead and even cohos mixed in. On Fridays trip with our friends in the painting/decorating business, we had over 20 fish on, and Saturdays trip with the Tolles group had us boxed out just after 9 am, with fish still on as we were pulling lines ! This is the "May fishing" that we always talk about, and try to encourage our customers to try. The fish run on average 4-6 lbs, but there were many 12 plus pound fish boated this week as well. What an awesome day we had on the sixth. We got to see some friends again from previous trips, and met some new friends who we look forward to fishing with for many years to come. These guys know how to catch fish, and they proved it today. They had some great battles with fish that were very large, and very angry , and these guys showed the fish who was boss ! Thanks for a fun trip guys, I hope your walleye trip tomorrow goes well also . Keep in touch, and see you next year ! ( Or sooner  ) Capt. Tom |
